Ask a Trainer

Not every training question needs a full private session.

Ask a Trainer is designed for those smaller training problems, questions, “am I doing this right?” moments, or times when you simply need a little reassurance that you’re on the right track.

Steps:

1. Tell me what is happening, what you have tried so far and what you would like to achieve. You can also upload short videos so I can see exactly what is going on. A €25 fee is payable at this point for your service.

2. I’ll review the information you send and give you practical, personalised advice, reassurance where appropriate, and clear next steps. If I need a little more background before answering, I may send you a short additional questionnaire so I can better understand your dog and their routine.

3. Your Ask a Trainer service also includes one follow-up, normally around 2–3 weeks later, so you can let me know how things are progressing and, where useful, send an updated video for further feedback.

If I review your submission and believe your dog would be better helped through a private training session or more in-depth assessment, I’ll let you know and refund your Ask a Trainer fee in full. There is no obligation to book another service with me.

Already a private training client?
If your question relates to something we are already working on together, you do not need to purchase Ask a Trainer. Reasonable follow-up support relating to your private session is already included.

If a video helps show what is happening, short clips are ideal.
Does your question involve a bite that has broken skin, serious aggression, or an immediate safety concern?

FAQ

What can I use Ask a Trainer for?

Ask a Trainer is designed for specific training questions, smaller problems, video reviews and those times when you simply want reassurance that you are doing the right thing. You might want help with recall, lead walking, settling, jumping up, puppy behaviour, rewards, training technique, progressing an exercise or understanding why something you are trying is not quite working.

Do I need to know exactly what the problem is?

No. Just tell me what you are seeing and what you would like to be different. You do not need to diagnose the behaviour or know what type of training you need. That is part of what I am here to help with.

Can I send a video?

Yes. In many cases, video is extremely useful. You can upload up to 3 short videos with your initial question where they help show the behaviour or training you are asking about.

What happens after I submit my question?

I will review the information and any videos you send. If I have enough information, I will provide personalised advice and practical next steps. If I need more background before giving advice, I may send you an additional questionnaire covering relevant areas such as routine, sleep, exercise, health or what happens around the behaviour.

How quickly will I receive a reply?

Replies are aimed to be provided within 48 hours of receiving the information I need. If I need additional information from you first, the 48 hours will begin once that information has been received.

Is follow-up included?

Yes. You can ask reasonable clarification questions about the advice I provide, and your Ask a Trainer service also includes one follow-up, normally around 2–3 weeks later. At your follow-up, you can let me know how things are progressing and, where useful, send a short updated video for further feedback.

Is this unlimited access to a trainer?

No. Ask a Trainer covers one main question or closely related issue for one dog, along with reasonable clarification and one follow-up. New or unrelated problems would require a new Ask a Trainer submission or another appropriate service.

What if my dog needs a private training session instead?

If, after reviewing your initial submission, I believe the issue requires a private training session or more in-depth assessment rather than Ask a Trainer, I will let you know and refund your Ask a Trainer fee in full. There is no obligation to book the recommended service with me.

What if the problem involves aggression or biting?

Ask a Trainer may not be suitable for serious aggression, bites that have broken skin or situations where there is an immediate safety concern. You can still tell me what is happening, but a more detailed assessment may be required before responsible advice can be given.

I have already had a private session with you. Do I need to pay for Ask a Trainer?

If your question relates to something we are currently working on from your private training session, no. Reasonable follow-up support relating to your private session is already included, so please contact me as normal. Ask a Trainer is mainly for standalone questions where a full private session is not required.
